Hey all, I have a cat about 12 years old who is indoors bit comes on the porch with us when we are there. He has become scared of his favorite treats, running and hiding after tasting one and spitting it out. I thought the treats may just be stale and threw them away, but then noticed he was doing it with his food (which has not changed in the 4 years we have had him). He also does the same thing with his water. We checked his teeth and mouth and found nothing visible anyway that may make him feel any pain. The first time he did it was a couple weeks ago, the next morning he was fine. Now I'm noticing it's happened a couple times this week...
Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions? we considered taking him to the vet the first time, but then he turned out fine. If it persists of course we will take him, but it is just such odd behavior.
