My two cats have developed an annoying habit of garbage digging and I’m sick of cleaning it up every time they decide to go looking for more food. We currently have a bin with a lid that locks, but it’s very light and easy to knock over. I also think the cats may have figured out how to undo the lock mechanism (it’s just two handles that snap on to the lid and if you open one, the other isn’t secure at all). Does anyone have any suggestions for cat-proof garbage bins or how I can curb this annoying behavior? They are fed appropriately (two cans of wet food a day, split over four smaller meals, with occasional dry food as a treat). Is the best option to just take the trash out every night before we sleep?
