I have a 9 month old puppy and about a month and a half ago we got a new kitty, who is about 2 1/2 years old.
His safe spot is still in the bathroom and he never leaves unless it’s nighttime when my dog and I are in our closed bedroom.
We always keep a baby gate in front of our bathroom door so my dog won’t bother him while he’s been adjusting, but they’ve been around each other numerous times I feel like he definitely should be used to him by now.
Kitty came from a house with 3 other dogs and never had a problem with them, so I’m curious what’s going on here.
I wondered if maybe taking the gate down would help? But I also didn’t want kitty to feel as if he is trapped/cornered.
Any suggestions?
