Cutting nails of stubborn dogs?

Hi! So, I have a 50 lb male dog. He's very friendly and loves to be pet, but we simply cannot get him to let us cut his nails. I let him sniff the clippers beforehand while giving him some treats so he knows they're not a threat. But the minute I bring them near his paw, he will take his paw away and begin trying to nip me. He gets very angry when we touch his paws in general.

So far, we have been getting his nails cut at his doggy daycare center, but they have limited availability for their groomers these days and we want to try to cut his nails ourselves. I mean, we know how to cut nails since we've done it on our dog before and still cut our cats' nails, but he is very stubborn.

It's difficult finding somebody to help me hold him down since they are either scared of him when he tries to nip or can't hold him down (even though he's only 50 lbs).

We have tried following different tutorials online, but he will definitely prioritize his paws over any treat. He just doesn't seem to trust us enough. I don't know how the groomers at his doggy daycare do it.

I was wondering if anybody has any tips on how we can get him to settle down or make the process less stressful for us and for him? \*Our last dog was semi-difficult, but for the most part, she behaved when we cut her nails.*

Thank you so much for any help!
