I apologize if this post would be better suited in a different sub; just let me know and I'll remove it.
So I know from allergy testing that I'm allergic to dogs and cats, but I'm significantly less allergic to dogs. I've also grown up with a dog while living at my parents' house and only noticed a slight improvement in my allergies when I moved out after high school (I'm a 21 y/o junior in college now), and I'm on a regimen for allergy immunization shots.
Would it be reasonable for me to apply to foster a dog for a week or two to see if I notice a change in my allergies, and then adopt if there are no complications? I really want a dog and have wanted one for a while, but I don't want to adopt and then be forced to give him/her up because of my allergies.
Thanks in advance!
