I just got an 8 year old rescue American Staffordshire Terrier mix and we ran into our first dogs on our walk the other day. He did not take it well. He almost got out of his harness. It was like he was trying to get out to either get to the other dogs or to just run away. After the other dogs were past he sat down and was whining and agitated.
I was a little shocked at his reaction but remained calm so he would calm down. I decided we’d head home after that. Then on the walk he stopped several times to look up at me. I patted him and said it was ok and we were going home and then he’d start walking again.
Any suggestions to help my pupper calm down when other dogs are around?
