I need advice. I dont know what to do about my cat

My vet does not know for certain but he thinks my 13/14 year old cat has a tumor in his abdomen and its causing fluid build up. Because my cat has a thyroid problem for months he was underweight. Now he looks like he is 9 months pregnant. Only a week ago he was his normal self even though he was not really eating. Now he barely walks and the only thing I can get him to eat is the juice from a tuna can. Thankgod he laps it up. The vet agreed with my analogy: Because of the fluid build up he feels like we do after we ate too much during thanksgiving dinner. We are not in pain but we feel like shit. I was able to get a referral to a more advanced vet but the appointment is nearly TWO WEEKS away (I am on the cancellation list) the last thing in the world I want is for him to suffer. I feel like this vet visit is a last ditch desperate hail marry and I'm afraid I'll let him suffer though these two weeks just for the vet to tell me their is nothing they can do. Or their is something they can do but it will cost 10 trillion dollars. I cant afford 10 trillion dollars.

BUT maybe their Is something the vet can do and it wont cost me an arm and a leg.

For months this same cat had chronic diarrhea and the vet finally just said, 'we've tried everything. there is nothing we can do. He is just gonna have chronic diarrhea for the rest of his life' Then my uncle suggested Freshpet and it was a miracle food. It literally worked over night. If it wasnt for the fact that I woke up to dead mouse on the floor I would have done jumping jacks
