I’m going to an adoption event for a nearby shelter this weekend, what should I make sure of before I put a dog on hold? What are some good questions to ask?

I’ve already filled out an application online, and they allow you to place a hold payment for a pet at their events once you’ve submitted an application. This is my first dog, so what should I look for?

For example:

• Shots should be up to date
• Is the dog spayed / neutered
• temperament
• diet

What questions are good to ask?

In addition, what are your best ways to make an apartment “dog ready”? Anything I should purchase in advance?

• Buy food in advance
• Buy a leash
• Bowls for food and water
• Doggy bed
