Here’s some background on the situation, we have a 9 year old rat terrier and a 4 year old who I believe is a mix between a goldendoodle and a cocker spaniel, but I could be wrong. They’re roughly the same size. One day the younger dog attacked the younger dog for no apparent reason. There was a lot of growling and snarling but no bites. We would have to physically separate them otherwise they would not stop. We figured it was a one time thing so we didn’t think much of it. After this, these attacks would seem to occur at random once a month, and it seems like it’s always our younger dog starting these. About 2 months ago, my parents adopted a husky puppy. Now i don’t know if this new puppy has anything to do with this, but it seems like the attacks have become much more frequent since he arrived. Last week the fights started becoming physical and they are actually biting each other. It got to the point where my older dog got hurt because the younger dog always goes for the neck. Now we have to keep them separate as they cannot be near each other without the younger dog trying to kill the older dog. Obviously we can’t be there 24 hours a day to watch them, so we’ve been needing to keep them separated while we are gone. I could really use advice on how to get them to get along. If this goes on I’m pretty sure the younger dog will end up killing the older one.
