Hi all! I'll get straight to the point: cats and dogs, as domesticated by us, take up a significant part of our household and daily activities. Recently I've noticed behavior patterns in my SO where he treated the girl dog more gently while being harsh and stern with the male dog.
After talking to him about it, he admitted to getting upset whenever Spinach wouldn't lift his leg to pee. He spout some bullshit about not marking territory and appearing weak in front of other dogs and their caregivers.
The solution to me was clear: Spinach didn't care for the violent tendencies of traditional cis male dominators and it's not fair for us to label him as such. It's straight up animal abuse to misgender your pets and shows a lack of communication and empathy.
