I have an 11 year old jack Russell mix, he is deaf and has cataracts and has for the past few years. I think he may have dementia. He's acting strangely. Laying in odd places in the house, almost like he doesn't know where he is. Misses social clues like when to leave a room when the door is about to close, doesn't realize he's outside to pee until I push him into the grass and then he gets it. Slept in my shower twice ( i keep the door closed now). Sleeps a lot and is up at odd hours during the night. No pain indicators. Eats fine, but slowly (his teeth are fine, had a dental 3 months ago). He is healthy otherwise. All this started about 6-8 months ago. Inappropriate play with my other 2 dogs. Cranky now but never used to be. Seeking out a lot of attention from me, way more than normal. I get that he now makes odd noises or stomps on the floor to get my attention, but honestly, it's truly strange now. Anyone else have a similar experience? What can I do? I tried calming treats but they just knock him out. Help!?
