I have a small rescue, a 7 pond chihuahua/terrier. She loves playing with me inside, running around after her toys, playing, hiding under blankets, and is really a sweet dog indoors.
When I take her out, for a walk to the dog park, she is terrified. She locks up her body and refuses to walk, shakes, barks at everyone/every other dog she sees. She snares at other dogs in the dog park that get near her.
I often have to leave her home all day, as often as 12+ hours a day. I have hired dog walkers, but they normally quit after a week because she doesn't let them touch her/put her leash on and bites their hands. She hates going to day care/being boarded, and shakes and trembles, trying to bite anyone that tries to walk her and pick her up.
I hate leaving her alone for so long, but seems to be the only option. She is the sweetest dog indoors to people she knows, but doesn't tolerate people she doesn't know/trust.
