So I gave my cat for adoption

A few years ago my parents got a cat, and it quickly became mine (she really loved me, and I lover her as well). Now we are about 6 years later, my parents are divorced, the cat lives with my father and I left for college.

My father only allow the cat in the basement and I hated the idea because she is always alone. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to find her a new family.

I found her a family on Satuday, they came and it clicked. (I talked to them for a few days before, she was going into a great family, only 2 adults, no kids, so a calm environment).

Now, 24 hours later, the lady texted me telling me the cat is a nightmare, she hisses at them and pee outside the litter (she always was a clean cat, never had litter problem). She told me she is going to give it a week to see if it gets better.

Anyone already had a similir experience while adopting/giving a cat for adoption? If so, would you have any tips? This situation really stresses me because I know my father don't want her back, he was quite happy that I found her a new family.

Thanks!
