Tooth extraction for a kitten

To start off with, Im sorry if my english is a little off or weird, just please bear with me. So I rescued a kitten back in November, took him home and decided to keep him, we take him to vet to get him vaccinated and microchipped, then was asked to come back after a month for a booster shot. Now, here's when I got to know the little guy was suffering from severe gingivitis, vet gave me a cream to apply for his gums every three days, took him back to the vet to check if his gums have gotten any better but no, vet recommends his tooth to be extracted out and also his right side gum has been heavily infected, so made an appointment for the required procedures to be done and keep in mind im new to all of this, so everything was just going really fast and i had to agree with what the vet was advising as he himself has shown me the prove of how badly his gums were. But here's where I got a bit shocked from the vet bill, the main part was the tooth extraction where 12 tooth were extracted out because of heavy damage,12 X $55 = $660!! I didnt hesitate and didnt think twice and just paid it because i dont want him to be in pain and im more concerned about his welfare then the money but now since he looks like hes settle down, i want to know if this price is normal? or was it a bit pricey? Thank you guys in advance and please do apologize for my poor english and grammar, have a good day!
