My landlord/ roommate got a new cat a few months ago and there is some strange behavior that concerns me:
1) Landlord gets upset when the cat doesn't give him enough attention. He has an impulsive personality and I have heard him yelling at and chasing the cat around the house, but I've never seen him abuse the cat.
2) One morning, the cat was soaking wet and shivering. I asked landlord what happened, he stifled a laugh and, looking embarrased, said "cats get wet sometimes".
3) I get this text from our 3rd roommate today: "So the cat has been napping in our room all day. He was sleeping on our bed when (landlord) came home. When he heard (landlord), he woke up noticeably scared and hid behind me, staring at our door. Later we left the room, and so did the cat. We came back to the room and closed the door. A little later (landlord) started coming upstairs and the cat came to our room and started waving his paw under the door to get our attention. We opened the door, he ran in and hid again."
4) When we all watch TV and the cat enters the room, he will usually go to landlord first and sit on his lap and eventually make his way to my lap
5) When I am home alone with the cat and the door opens, the cat perks up and tries to hide behind me ONLY when he hears landlord come in. If it is anybody else, the cat is calm.
