Mixed family

My husband and I have two short hair cats, a border collie, and a pit bull mix. The two dogs usually get along well, but we have training collars on them too so that helps. However, the cat vs. dog issue is intense. The border collie is 6 years old and was around the two cats (who are both 4 years old) for about a year before we introduced the new dog who is just over a year old.

The puppy was more of a rescue for us because she got injured and her previous owners couldn't care for her anymore. She is completely fine now just for extra info. Since the new dog has been introduced, the border collie wants to herd the cats anytime she hears or see them much more often/intensely than before. The puppy just wants to chase and play. The cats are obviously scared.

We have our house set up to where the dogs have free roam of the living room and kitchen and the cats have a gate up to our "second living room" plus the spare bedroom (where I get ready so I'm in there a fair amount too). The dogs sleep with us with a closed door so the cats have full roam overnight. I'm wondering what I can do to make it easier and less stressful for everyone.

I stay home right now because of a health issue so I have a ton of time to try out anything that might work. Any advice?
