So as the title says this cat keeps attacking me, unprovoked on the walk back from putting the trash out. And ONLY on the walk back from trash duties.
Usually he's super friendly and he comes to my door as soon as I open it, he runs in and i'll pet him and give him a couple treats, but randomly during the past couple of months (3 times now) he's been quite aggressivly attacking my toes and legs for no reason when I try to walk back from putting the trash out. The weird part is he still rubs himself on me during the attacking like he wants to be petted, but when I do he trys to bite me. And this is not playful either, it's more aggressive. Ive tried walking slower on the way back thinking perhaps someone chased or kicked him and that's why garbage/trash duties cause this but it makes no difference. He just attacks me when he feels like it.
If I try to ignore it he keeps on and will not let me move or walk back to my home. I walked off to the right to try and go around him and he followed and attacked me legs and toes again while meowing at me for attention. I've had to physically walk away and down the road, and come back later due to his aggressiveness which is now making me very anxious.
Talking to the owner won't help because they don't really care and he's outside 99% of the time. The only thing I can think of to resolve this is to stop petting him/giving attention/treats because I'm guessing he apparently thinks he can bully me into giving treats when he wants now? That's my plan anyway, but any advice would be great.
