My Great Pyrenees got fleas a few weeks ago while staying with family while I was out of town. He was given revolution and capstar while with them and had no fleas when I picked him up.
It’s been over a week and he’s still scratching and nibbling himself like crazy. I’ve searched his fur (which is super dense because of his breed) and have found one dead flea and some black residue from the fleas.
He has an appointment to be groomed this weekend (I don’t have the water pressure to get through his fur/can’t give good dog haircuts) and I’m hoping that’ll help some. I’ve given him liquid children’s benedryl a few times but he HATES it and gags/vomits.
I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. How long did it take your dog to stop itching?
