Worried for my cat so I need to talk about it

Preface: He's going to the vet in a few hours. I made the appointment as soon as he had his first water vomiting episode yesterday.

Our senior cat (13) started eating less on Memorial Day (Monday) and hasn't been able to keep down food and water since yesterday. What he does take in, he'll vomit back up (both undigested food and water). He doesn't appear to be in pain and still asks for cuddles, but he's lethargic and often hiding.

My hunch is a GI blockage, which depending on the severity may require surgery. The problem is, my SO and I are supposed to go out of town this weekend. It's two of our closest friends' wedding. All of our other friends will be there to celebrate their union and medical school graduation.

Our vet does do boarding/hospitalizations so if we do leave town, rationally I know he's gonna be in good care. But emotionally I'm conflicted and sad.

That's all. Thanks for listening.
