Hi everyone! My 12 year old cat has started to scratch up the carpet near my bedroom door. I think it’s her way of trying to wake me up because she used to stand by my door and cry. But that hasn’t worked, so now she’s added scratching. I don’t want her think that scratching makes me get up, so I’ve tried to ignore it. I live in an apartment and I’m worried about my deposit. She has a scratch post, a scratch pad, and other things she’s allowed to scratch. Any tips? Most of the google search don’t seem to apply to this situation. I’ve tried swatting her when I do get up to try to get her to associate it with the scratching.
