Cat stealing food from her kittens! Is this normal?

So I have three cats as of now, one cat and her two kittens. She was already carrying the kittens when I got her (she always came to our house for food, and would sometimes stay inside) and one day she just gave birth in the corner of the bathroom and we had two kittens.

Obviously we kept them, after all, if you can why shouldn't you? As they grew up, they switched to solid foods. I prepare meals for them (consisting of foods recommended by their vet) because I don't trust shitty cat food from the store. But there's this weird thing happening whenever I feed them.

I have to feed them in separate rooms because the adult cat always steals food from her kittens and puts it in her bowl, even if she has her own. Whatever it is, chicken, pork, etc. she will steal it. Sometimes she won't even eat it, but won't allow the kittens to eat it either. If they try, she will hiss at them and scratch them.

It's now starting to annoy me because I always have to keep the kittens locked in the other room whenever they're hungry so she doesn't take their food. Anyone experiencing something similar? Is this normal mother cat behavior?
