How long do I need to vacuum for fleas?

Long story short, I've been dealing with a flea infestation in my house for over a month now, spraying and vacuuming every day. The pets have been ostracized from the house for the time being, and after some treatments seem to be flea-free, so there shouldn't be any new fleas coming into the house at all at this point. My question is, how long after I stop seeing any fleas do I need to keep vacuuming and spraying? The entire process takes over two hours, and I work about 12-13 hours a day, so I'd really like to stop having to do this as soon as possible. I haven't seen any fleas for a couple days now, but I'm hesitant to stop, lest they come back again.

Another question that I have is if it would actually be helpful to have the treated animals inside the house, as the treatments allegedly "kill fleas on contact"? Or would I just be creating another hiding spot for new fleas?

Thanks in advance for any help!
