I have a internship/valuable work opportunity, and my cousin is letting me stay with her because while she lives near where I need to work, I live pretty far.
She has a cat, and I never grew up around cats, so it’s definitely an experience. I have nothing against the cat, he’s adorable and harmless. However, I have things in my room (work clothes/shoes, supplies, etc) that I don’t need for the cat to be all over, so for that reason alone I don’t want the cat in my room during my stay.
The cat would follow me upstairs and try to come into my room with me, and although I was initially finding ways to distract it, the cat, as animals do, is getting to know the game. He won’t fall for me walking down the stairs and dashing back up into my room as often, and this cat is FAST. I understand that this is the cat’s house not mine, but I really just want to know how I can just get the cat to stop following me altogether without me having to be disrespectful. Again, I like the cat! I just don’t want him in this one room right now. What can I do?
