I have a 5 year old Chocolate Point Siamese, he's always been a pretty smart cat in my opinion, even for his breed. But sometimes he really impresses me.
I've been watching his eating habits lately, and I realized that he rations his food. He usually doesn't eat his entire supply, but he will still eat more if you give him more, because he knows he has food to spare. He has an automatic feeder, and he eventually realized he could unscrew the lid and reach into the top to scoop out extra food if it was full to the brim. When he does to eat, he will always check to see if he can get extra before going to his regular supply. He often cries to me at his food dish that looks empty and guilt me into getting him a bit more, only to realize he pushed his food up into the dispenser out of sight.
My Dad also has a bad habit of throwing little chunks of meat for him because he loves to chase it, whenever he sees my dad eating meat, he knows he can bug him to throw it, but he won't eat it, at least not right away. He will play with it for a moment, then go right back to my Dad to throw more. He will keep at it, and only when my Dad stops, will the cat actually go and start eating some of that. I really think he is intentionally milking my Dad for as much as he can get.
I also don't understand how he's not fat when he's the biggest glutton of a cat I've ever met, as active as he is for a house cat.
