so, I have a 11 month old male kitten, who I got semi feral. I've had him now for over a month, and hes come quite a long way from being scared of me to not leaving my side. he is spoiled, and he doesn't like it when I am not in his sight, yowling when I simply step of the room, and when I call for him, he automatically comes, meowing the whole time as if telling me off for leaving him. I love him to bits. recently my sister got a female puppy, a little beagle mix, maybe 5 months old? I'm not sure, exactly. my sister decided she was too much work, and gave her to me. shes frighteningly intelligent, and of course, loves to follow me around. she loves to follow me out to work in the garden, and loves coming to my room to cuddle with me. my problem is, my cat seems to stalk her on sight, chasing her down and attacking her, enough that she'll yip, I quickly separate them, and am always surprised by how rough hes being. he will literally run at her, attack her, and run off before she can retaliate. they've started doing this thing where the puppy will be with me, the kitten will charge, attack her, and she'll run him off and come back to me. even when I'm trying to take her out, (I am training her to bark when she needs out) she will have her full attention on me, see him, run him off, then come back to me and give me her full attention again. I love them both, and I dont want to get rid of either of them. the only solution to not get this to happen is to separate them, either by putting her in her kennel, or put one in a bedroom. why are they acting like this? and what steps can I take to get them to relax? thanks so much for reading and any help!
