Need help with my lizard

I've had a Tiliqua Gigas (Indonesian Blue Tongue Skink) for about a year now, and ive got some questions i hope this subreddit can help me with. How big can they get if they are about 1 and a half years old? When first got George (my skink) the store employees said he was about 7 months old, but he was enormous, about 35 cm long. He was the most aggressive in the bunch and he runs after the crickets, even the ones other skinks were targeting (you can see when skinks lock on to a target when they intensely looks at the target and have their legs all readied for running). All the other skinks who are supposedly 6/7 months old at the time were about 25 cm long. Is it normal to have young skinks this large? or is he an adult? George is now 40+ cm. Ive seen skinks that are about 3 months old ans theyre tiny, about 10 cm. Do skinks grow that fast? or are they a few years old already? Also, what kind of substrate should i use for my skink? And is it normal for him to prefer chicken over crickets? Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

p.s. probably not a not pf people would know about lizards here but its worth a shot.
