So I have 2 cats one male one female, both fixed. Recently my wife inherited her dead mothers new cat, a girl, and i think she is like 10 months. We are unable to get rid of the new cat. The female cat we have had, is around 3 years old and was spayed about 1 year ago.
The new cat is traumatized by our old female cat we believe, as she refuses to come out from under the bed now, for days on end, other then to shit, eat etc. The door to the bedroom has to stay closed around the clock or our old female cat will continually attack her. We have tried a water bottle spraying the old cat for bad behavior, weve tried pheromones, yelling, sepearating them under the door, kennels, letting them sniff each other out, etc, you name it weve tried it. In the end nothing works; the old cat still wants to fight the new cat and the new cat wants to hide under the bed. If we close doors and put them all in the same area where they cant get away from each other, they do not "work it out". The old female will just attack the new one all day.
Weve tried putting all 3 of them in a room and giving them treats or catnip at the same time, and nothing works. The male cat happily eats his catnip and walks away, but the old female cat and the new one give zero shits about the catnip. The old female cat normally would be hystrical for the catnip but now its like all she can think about is attacking the new cat.
