I’m going to get through this quick. I have three gerbils who are brothers that live together. One of them, Soot, I noticed had a semi-prominent head tilt. I checked him out closer and there is a surplus of wax in his ear, and he seems to be in at least mild pain. I immediately identified it as an ear infection, but none of my gerbils has had one before so i started researching. According to what I’ve learned, you have to get a prescription of Baytril from the vet. Problem is, I can’t go to the vet. I’m not being a dick guardian or anything, but the truth is I’m fourteen and my parents don’t care about my gerbils. The closest exotic animal vet is forty minutes away. I’m screwed. I really don’t think I can handle the guilt of watching one of my boys die when I knew there was a way to save him. Please, is there any other way to treat ear infections at home? I’ll try anything at this point. He seems okay right now, but I’m really scared he’s going to take a turn for the worse. Please help.
