Cat won't drink unless it is from the sink

Hi all,

I have a really stubborn cat who refuses to drink out of anything other than the sink. He won't drink still water, or from either of the 2 cat fountains we've gotten him. He cries for water everytime I'm near a sink and it sounds like he's really thirsty and it breaks my heart, but also really annoys me. What do I do? Do I just leave the sink on for him? I'm kind of running out of options.
