Help for Agressive Cat

My boyfriend and I adopted our cat a few months ago. They warned us at the shelter that the two different people who adopted her before us reported her as aggressive. (We were the third set to adopt her) She was incredibly sweet when we met her and was very affectionate. They said at the shelter they had never personally observed these behaviors and they had her for close to a year.

For the first few days, we didn't experience this at all. She was sweet with everyone, loved cuddles, and behaved very well.

Now, things are terrible. She has become aggressive toward us and our roommates. She'll randomly attack their feet and hiss at them if they try to pet her. We introduced her to our roommate's cat after a few weeks while following directions from the shelter and she was very aggressive. She has swatted at the cat and hissed. If our roommate's cat is in the room with her, she is very upset for the rest of the day. If you smell like my roommate's cat, she'll bite and scratch you.

We've tried walking away when she's misbehaving and rewarding good behavior. We're trying to be patient but I'm concerned she's going to seriously hurt one of our roommates or us. In our room, she still bites and still acts aggressively.

We brought her to the vet and she's not in pain or anything. We play with her regularly and try our best. We just started giving her some CBD oil which our friend recommended. We haven't noticed a change.

Please let me know if you have any advice. We're thinking of putting her on medicine, she was on anti-anxiety pills in the shelter.
