I have an 8 month old rescue. He is being treated for intestinal parasites and was given Adco Metronidazole (a half twice a day). I’m having a real hard time getting his pill into his mouth. I’ve tried the manual way but he freaks out, goes wild and spits it out. I’ve tried hiding it in his food (wet, dry and boiled chicken) but he eats around it. If I crush it and mix it in, he won’t eat that food at all. I just got tuna and tried hiding it in there and he ate the portion around the pill. How do I get him to take this? He only started yesterday. The vet basically forced it into his mouth while I was holding him down yesterday but I’m unable to do this myself. Any suggestions for me to try? I really want him to get better.
