Hi, Reddit! My SO and I recently got a dog (about a month ago) anf she is currently 3 momths old. She is a Beagle and she is very playful, however, she keeps on biting. I understand that this is what puppies do and that's okay, but she keeps biting harder and harder, up until it leaves bruises or cuts. Her behaviour doesn't seem to be aggressive; she is relaxed and playful while doing so, but despite our yelling in pain, scolding, quickly switching with a toy or spraying her with water, she won't quit doing it, not even in the moment. We asked our vet about it and she said that it's a behavioural situation and in time, she will quit doing it. However, I am worried that she will grow up thinking that this is fine and quite frankly, none of us really enjoy being bitten and bruised all the time. Besides, it makes me feel bad having to stop playing with her when she bites too hard because I really want us to bond more. What else can I do?
