Thinking of having my 15 year old cat putting down...need advice

So, I rescued this cat when she was barely 5 weeks old out of a storm, when I was 15. Even as a kitten, she was extremely aggressive towards pretty much anyone and anything except myself, and even then she would attack me viciously, seemingly randomly. I still have scars from her attacks. But I just thought of it as a "quirk" and would try to give her as much love as possible.

Cut to the current day. I've been feeding her twice a day, at regular intervals. Sometimes she will simply come out and eat, but other times, such as the past few days, she will start meowing really loud and start trying to slash my arms as I put her food plate down. It's got to the point where you can't even get near her without her hissing, howling, and trying to attack you. She doesn't even clean herself anymore, and shits on the floor when her litter box is right in front of her...yet she has the energy to try to attack anyone and anything.

I am facing a hard decision...what should I do? As far as I know she doesn't have any major health problems aside from a thyroid issue, which is medicated. I am now babysitting my little sister's cat, who is male, for the next year. He is almost two, and is the sweetest cat and loves people and my dog.

Do I need to put my other cat down? She's always been aggressive but this is getting out of hand and I don't know what to do. I've tried low doses of sedatives that were prescribed to her about a year ago and they did nothing.
