When I arrived at my work to clock in, there were about four people outside because they saw a stray cat at the back of the building. They picked her up without any issue and identified her as a female. She was very friendly and came up to rub her face on my hand when I bent down to offer it to her. Overall she seemed used to people and liked being pet. Her fur was a typical tuxedo pattern and had an unusually long tail. She was pretty skinny and her fur was messy (but not dirty or matted), so I doubt she was being fed regularly or had a home. She didn't look like she had kittens either, as she was very skinny and didn't have noticable nipples. I'm wary of taking her in since weight isn't a surefire way to tell if a cat has kittens. I feel so bad for her and I want to give her a good home. I just have a huge soft spot for cats.
I told my mom about it and she's not opposed to taking her in. I'm only 17 so I still live with my parents. I just worry that I'd potentially be taking her from her litter, possibly introducing her to my other cats (we have four, two male and two female), and I'm worried she might run away if we let her outside if we do adopt her. This is the first time I've seen her around my work. I'm not sure if she would be there again, but since I work at a restaurant she's probably looking in the dumpster for food that's been thrown out. I think that she was possibly dumped there, which just breaks my heart! What should I do?
Sorry about the weird format, I'm on mobile.
