I just recently introduced a new male kitten to my apartment. We have a 2 year old female cat, as well. We slowly introduced the two of them. They are just starting to interact more. The older female is certainly annoyed. The kitten seems to want to take all her favorite spots in the house. He seems to be clueless about her territory or level of irritation, which I do realize is normal. She doesn't seem to be very good at claiming her space. I have only heard her hiss or tap/swat at him - but it doesn't seem aggressive. I haven't been too worried (as I've introduced cats in the past without any major issues) but I just noticed the male kitten suddenly has a patch of missing hair above one of his eyes. It looks very strange to me. I didn't notice a scratch on the bald spot or anything but my boyfriend says he thought he saw one. I don't know if I should be concerned that the older cat hurt him or if a kitten losing hair isn't uncommon. I looked it up and read about feline alopecia. I'm hoping that is all it is. Just curious to know if anyone else has noticed similar patches on their cats and what caused it. Also any advice on how to help make my older cat feel like she has her space still would be appreciated. Thank you!
