What does it mean for my dog to bring me a toy every time I come home?

I have a very sweet 3 year old Doberman. She is veryyyy affectionate with everyone, she loves to cuddle everyone in the house. I noticed a few months ago that whenever any of our immediate family walks into the house, she runs to find something to show to whoever just walked in. It’s usually one of her toys, or a bone, however we have noticed that when she can’t find a toy she frantically runs around looking for one instead of going to the door as we walk in, then she’ll greet us with her toy happily. If she can’t find a toy she’ll find something to bring to us, usually a sock or empty box or something along those lines. She just comes up to us wagging her tail while holding her toy in her mouth. I was just curious to what this means? She doesn’t do it to anyone outside of my immediate family, if a friend comes over she just runs to the door and starts trying to lick / jump all over them.

Any answers would be appreciated! I tried to google but it didn’t do much good.
