I got my puppy (Miniature Schnauzer- 2months/4lbs) exactly a week ago. He was extremely happy and excitable and just perfect. A day later (Saturday) he started having diarrhea and refused to eat more than 1x a day. I figured it was just nerves being that it was a new home. 4 days later (Tuesday) the diarrhea hasn’t stopped so I take him to the vet to get him checked and get a quote on vaccines. Vet runs a fecal test that comes back negative, vet conducts a physical and says he’s perfectly healthy, just nerves from it being a new home, and gives him a medicine in case he has worms so he can flush it out.
2 days later (Thursday) he still has diarrhea but now he’s vomiting/coughing/gagging, so I take him to a different vet. His fecal and parvo test come back negative so vet conducts a physical and immediately she realized he has tape worms and a swollen lymph node. She gave him a dewormer shot and prescribed him additional meds, gave him a nasal medication to relieve the coughing, prescribed him a pill to fight the nausea, prescribed special puppy food to help with digestion and flea/tick medication. She also gave him his first rounds of vaccines.
I genuinely thought he was going to get better because he started eating and running around again, but this morning a found a patch of hair loss (I’m assuming ring worm), he still has diarrhea, remnants of vomit were on his puppy pad and as of 6:00 p.m. CT, he’s been having seizures. Now idk if the vomit is actual vomit or it’s part of his seizures. I’ve called various vets and no one can see him until Monday and no one will provide advice since they want to run tests first.
I don’t know what to do or how to help him at this point and I’m scared he’ll get severe brain damage OR DIE from his seizures if they don’t subside or if he can’t keep his food down from now to Monday. Will he be okay? Any advice?
