Is my cat lonely? How do I help her if I can't get another pet right now?

My cat is probably alone in my apartment for a maximum of five hours a day. Usually closer to three hours, because my partner is home when I'm at school and I come home shortly after she goes to work.

In our old house she rarely played with the other pets and didn't seem to like them very much, so I didn't think she would miss them. But after we moved, she became significantly more vocal and clingy. She follows me around whenever I'm home and is constantly and loudly meowing trying to get me to play with her.

I play with her as much as I can every day and I talk to her often, but I'm trying to juggle my schoolwork, housework, and my relationship so I don't have as much time to play with her as I would like. She has so many toys but she's largely uninterested in them unless I'm the one tossing them around.

I know she's bored and probably lonely. Also wondering if her behavior might be stress related because of the move. I would love to get another cat but I will be moving from apartment to apartment in the next few years and it's hard enough to find an apartment complex that will let me have one cat, let alone two. Is there anything else I can do to help her?

Tldr; Moved from a multi-pet household to a one-pet household about a month ago. Cat isn't alone in the apartment for long every day, but has become very clingy and vocal. She has plenty of toys and I play with her every day as much as I can, but she's still very demanding of my attention. Is she lonely or stressed or something else? I can't get another pet right now. How else can I help her?
