My cat (19F) is in poor health but won’t stop peeing on the floor (instead of using her litter box).

My cat is very old and has had a series of “events” that caused her to have mobility issues. She also lost a lot of weight and is too skinny for a cat. The vet suspects a clot to the heart.

The vet also told us to think about end of life options when I brought her in after her first episode (1 yr ago). She doesn’t seem to be in pain so I haven’t pursued euthanasia.

Since the initial vet appointment there have been multiple episodes (as the vet predicted). Each time one has occurred she’s had noticeably impaired mobility (trouble walking, mostly hind legs). However, after 7-10 days she regains about 95% of the mobility back.

For the past ~6 months she will only pee 1X in the litter box (in the corner). After that she pees on the floor just in front of the litter box. We had to move it to the tiny laundry room so that it’s not on carpet.

Her new thing now is to pee on our carpeted bedroom floor and the room reeks of cat pee. I’m at my wits end. The room smells so bad it’s hard to sleep in it but I can’t keep up with her peeing.

Any advice is most welcome!
