I have two rescue kittens. One is 6 months old (M), one is 4 months old (F). The older kitten didn’t have much time spent with litter mates before we rescued him and plays/fights with our younger kitten very aggressively. The younger kitten does not enjoy this. She hisses and growls every time they “play” before she runs away.
Normally their interactions with each other are quite civil. We took our time introducing them to each other and they get along fairly well. The younger kitten doesn’t hide from the older one or anything and doesn’t seem scared, but as soon as they start “playing” things go south. It seems like the older kitten thinks they are playing, but the younger one thinks they are fighting.
What can I do about this? How do I teach the older one to play nice and be gentle? Do I just let them figure it out as long as there are no injuries?
