I adopted a cat yesterday. I was told they don’t put holds more than 24 hours, but I found it a tad ridiculous since it’s Thanksgiving weekend and people are going in and out of town. Instead of waiting (Incase someone else adopted him), I went ahead and adopted earlier than expected. I can’t believe my cat had gotten EXTEMELY comfortable. My boyfriend who has had a cat for 12 years can’t believe it either and is in shock.
My cat was scared at first ( of course). He went straight to the window and sat there, explored a bit, went under the bed, likes the darkness there and the “cave” like aspect lol. But once it was evening, he was walking everywhere, purring, relaxed on my bed, asking for pets and was just...calm and independent. And we even played! He has been licking my fingers. He got on top of my body last night as I was fast asleep (it scared me. Was hilarious) and sat right on top of me. He slept on my legs and even got into between my legs and wanted pets and cuddles. He eventually ate throughout the night and ate breakfast this morning as well.
But now I’m second guessing myself. I thought he was literally going to be in a corner for like the next 3 days lol and not eating. (He has yet to use the litter box though). I haven’t seen my family for two months so the whole plan was to go home for just one night, but I decided not to because I adopted. But my cat is adjusting very well (?) to his new home.
Is it bad if I go home for the Sunday evening, sleep at my parents, and not come home until Monday around 9pm. At the end of the day, I won’t leave him if it’s really a huge issue, but he is making me second guess myself with how he is acting, lol.
