Is my room a suitable location for my cat's litter box?

I am in a stupid situation. I live with my dad, and each of us have a cat that has bonded with us. Because I begged so hard to get my cat, it is my job to clean the catbox daily. My cat, Jazmine, is wonderful and perfect and has never relieved herself outside of the litter box. My dad's cat, Henry, has some issues. Since we got him he had been defecating outside of his box on occasion. He's done it more often since we got Jazmine and has begun peeing outside of the box.

We do have two litter boxes now since I figure it is probably a dominance issue between them, but my dad refuses to have the second box away from the first. We live in a small apartment, so if we were to move the second box, the most convenient place would be the "powder room", which is a doorless room outside the bathroom that has the bathroom sink. My dad won't let me put it there, likely because he doesn't want litter tracked all over the bathroom (which makes sense, but would you rather deal with litter on the linoleum or cat poop in the laundry room?).

Obviously, I don't have an input on where it can go outside of my room, so I figured I would put one in my bedroom somewhere in a corner with a mat under it so the carpet will be safe. I have the master bedroom so it's fairly large and the box would be out in the open away from where Jazmine sleeps so she won't stop sleeping where she likes to and will actually use the box. Is this a good idea? Or should I barter more with my dad to let me move the box to the bathroom?
