My cat is 16 years of age. He has hyperthyroidism and early stage kidney disease. He was treated for hyperthyroidism but after 4 weeks he was shown to only have improved minimally. The vet is consulting with an expert on the as to next steps. At this point the vet is waiting to hear back from the thyroid expert. They have no idea how long it will take to hear back from the expert.
Should I be concerned that the vet needs a consultant opinion on this? It's a fairly common issue cats. I feel like they're jerking around while my old boy is slowly dying.
