First-time (temporary) cat caretaker, got some questions.

So I've never raised a cat before but agreed to help someone raise their cat for 8 weeks or so while they are unable to. I've been thinking about some stuff and have some questions, any answers/advice appreciated.

  1. I read that a cat should be kept in one room with its food, water and litter box for the first several days when introduced into a new home. I was wondering how large this room would need to be? Right now I have two cats in a bathroom with dimensions of approx. 3 x 5 meters. Would they need more room to get active, or is that comfortable? They are both indoor cats btw.
  2. I've also read that they should be slowly introduced to the rest of the house for short periods of time with close supervision, how long would it take before I am able to let them roam freely?
  3. How much time should I be spending with the cats? I don't want to overwhelm them, especially since they don't know me. At the same time, the bathroom where they are currently staying is a bit cramped for me with their beds and litter box, so it's not the most comfortable place to be. I don't want them to get lonely if no one is there keeping them company.

Thanks in advance!
