New kitten won't eat, drink, use the litter box or come out of his hiding space...

I just brought home a 6 month old kitten yesterday. Unfortunately, my apartment has a very open floor plan so i wasn't able to introduce him in a ''safety room'', and i didn't wanna put him in the bathroom as i was afraid he'd get stuck behind the washer and dryer. I'm only mentioning this because i don't know if it might be part of the reason that the following things have been happening.

Since arriving home he refused to eat or drink anything, this included food he was eating at his foster family, new food, wet food or treats. He hasn't drunk any water and hasn't relieved himself. He pretty much stayed in his little cat bed for like half the night, until i woke up because he was trying to hide behind the microwave, when i went to move him as there are wires there, he totally took off in a panic and has spent the rest of the night smooshed between a cushion and the wall. Again i tried getting him interested in food, but it just didn't work.

Apparently he had ear mites a few weeks ago and also was spayed, could that be a reason?

So what do i do now? do i wait and see if he'll come out on his own and look for food, or do i contact a vet?
