My dog had a vulvoplasty done by my vet because her extra skin over her vulva was causing frequent urinary tract infections. She was put under with anesthesia and released to us the same day. about 10 minutes after we got her home, blood started POURING out of her sutures; probably about 1.5 cups of blood.
We took her back to the vet immediately and all they did was put a diaper on her. Over the next 5 days, we were concerned with how much AGONY (screaming, extremely fast heart rate) she was in despite being heavily sedated, a few stitches opened, and the incision looked really bad. The whole time the vet said they weren't concerned. We finally had to take her to an emergency pet hospital because she was in too much pain to even squat to urinate 6 days after the surgery.
The animal hospital confirmed that the site was infected and that all the sutures needed to be redone because there was a sizable void and that the remaining sutures were too tight. The day after her sutures were redone, she was only mildly uncomfortable, waging her tail, peeing/pooping on her own. My dog is now recovering the way my vet originally said she would recover.
Do you think there is a case for getting a refund since I had to pay to get their work redone by someone else to stop her agony?
