Ok so I've had my female spayed cat for 6 years now. She's about 6.5 years old. Previously she lived with me and my ex and two other cats. Those two cats got along with each other well but would gang up on my cat. Now that myself and my ex have separated we agreed that it would be better if she's with me for peace of mind for her - so she doesn't get ganged up on so badly.
Before when she was in the old house she was quiet, docile and kept to herself mostly. Sometimes asking for attention but nothing crazy.
I moved into a studio apartment. Decent size. Has a safe outdoor balcony area. Good space for zoomies indoors and out. I've bought her all her fave toys. Fave foods. Fave water fountain. Made sure her scent was around the house. Have regular play time. I've had her checked for health issues and none.
We are on day 3 of the new place and it's like she's a different cat. She follows me like a shadow, meows ALOT more than she used to and is constantly craving attention day and night. She's fed, she's played, she's in a good environment - so I'm not sure what's happening.
I'm currently working on not responding too much and rewarding her when she's quiet. If I go into the bathroom, she will just sit at the door and complain. I'm trying to stick to a schedule for her so she sleeps at night.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing she's just anxious from the move and for now I can give her attention but I will have to start leaving the house soon and am hoping she won't just freak out the whole day.
Any advice is widely appreciated. Or even just saying it will prob go away when she adapts (if that's true) would give me peace of mind. Cuz I'm under slept and stressed outtttttt.
Help!
