I've just adopted a new cat who is super loving 85% of the time. He loves to give hugs and nuzzle your neck. He follows me around and seeks attention. However, out of the blue he will suddenly bite or scratch and it hurts. I read a lot about cats love biting, but these bites are not gentle bites. His bites haven't broken skin yet, but these bites hurt. A LOT. There is nothing loving about this. Half the time, I won't even be touching him when he does it. He'll walk up to me like he wants to nuzzle and then bite my face. I try to stop or discourage it verbally, but it's not doing the trick. Any tips on how to discourage the biting? Or ideas what could be the cause of the biting?
