Is it normal for a cat whos not your own to become attached to you?

I share a house with 5 other people and have lived here for about 7 months. There are 2 cats that live here, that technically belong to my housemate who’s lived here about ten years.

Since moving in, one of the cats seems to have become quite attached to me. She sleeps on my bed every night (and of course during the day) and if I ever shut my door, she’ll come to meow and scratch at the door. She of course leaves to explore and comes to say hello to other housemates, but mostly she’s in my room.

I love her lots and give her lots and lots of affection, she even gets under my covers and tries to spoon with me haha 😅 (not sure if that’s weird.) Always flips over for belly rubs, falls asleep on my chest, always cuddling and head bumping and rubbing on me.

My housemate, the one who technically owns her, refers to the cats as the house cats because they were born on the shed roof, but he lets them do their own thing. He doesn’t leave his door open, so most nights I hear the other cat scratching and crying at his door for hours. He feeds them and gives them water, but this little one specifically seems to mostly be with me. I leave my bedroom door open so she can come and go as she pleases and she’ll often leave early hours of the morning to go explore and when I wake up she’s curled up with me.

Is this normal? I always assumed most cats are just obsessed with whoever feeds them or whoever ‘owns’ them. But even with this cat being fed by my housemate, she comes to me every other occasion.
