So a cat I adopted from the streets gave birth around a month ago. I live at a house and the cats live in the garden, where they have food, water, and a whole "hut" where they can sit. When she gave birth, we put the kittens in a box with a pillow in the "attic" of the hut so the mother could get to them, but they'd also be safe from our other castrated cat and our dog.
Now that they've started to be able to get out of the box via climbing, we thought we should put them at floor level so that there's no danger of falling. We found a bigger and taller box where we thought they could say for a few more, but they can get out of that one, too. Now, the male castrated cat is noticing them a lot more and keeps hissing at them. I'm also afraid they might go out of the box at night and roam into the garden, where there's our dog. She has had no problems with them, as we showed them to her, but who knows what might happen in a whole night?
Can I trust the mom to take care of them and protect them from going out / from the male cat?
